We will discuss who gets to decide when there is “enough language”, “enough autonomy”, “enough independence” or “enough” of anything by sharing personal life experiences and case studies. This presentation will encourage participants to take into account that families and professionals are able to put the needs and goals of the student first. Ethical Codes such as the ASHA Code of Ethics and Communication Bill of Rights will be discussed. We will also share frameworks and tools such as SETT by Joy Zabala and Charting the LifeCourse to consider how a student can determine their own level of need with help from a team.
